Moving Body Training: THE BIOLOGY OF EMOTION
Mary Abrams

In this weekend we will explore the biology of emotion through the affect system which flows in the central nervous system, is felt in the entire body, and is expressed most articulately in the face. Understanding the stimulation patterns, inner movement flows, and language of affect offers great resource for any person working toward change within themselves and/or as a teacher/practitioner with others.

AWAKENING HEART FIRE: DANCING IN THE WELL OF ORIGIN
Susan Harper

Come awaken inside the flame of your heart. Within the bright fire of the heart we free a strength of love and imagination to participate with the profound gifts and needs of this world This is a call to dance in the well of origin—to dance an original dance with an individuality that has the flavor of risk, passion, and vivid vulnerability.

WHAT WE WILL DO?

EXPLORE MOVEMENT IN THE LANGUAGE OF LIFE with micromovements, subtle wave motion, primordial breaths and sounds with open attention.

EXPLORE A DYNAMIC RANGE - From deep meditative stillness we may also dance with juicy roots in joyous abandon in a self-paced process that is enjoyable and revelatory.

BUILD SOMATIC RESOURCES - Awareness of organismic intelligence guides our movement. We open perception, attend to feelings and the myriad sensations of being alive, and develop a capacity for fluid grounded embodiment.

SPIRIT OF INQUIRY - In the spirit of inquiry we enter the spiritual-imaginative capacity of the heart. The unknown in each of our hearts is deeply personal and intimately connected to the heart of the world.

THIS IS A CALL TO FALL into the well of origin to hear your root voice, to dance with an originality that is yours to articulate and contribute. May this be a context for your soul to awaken, discover, and express your heartfelt longings, and offer your genuine discoveries to our world.

Em'Oceans & Sensations Training Level 2
Susan Harper

Presence and the practice of awareness are at the heart of how we inquire into our emotions and sensations in this professional training. Grounded attentional practices open our capacity to feel our full range of feelings with support. We cultivate perceptive presence, somatic resources, and deep sentient embodiment.

Each of our emotions, needs, thoughts, opinions, and intuitions, produce sensations. Emotions are communicators of our needs and intuitions. This training develops skills to feel, identify, process, and communicate our sensations, needs, and emotions. These skills include: the practice of awareness, opening perception, building somatic resources, the art of dialogue, emotional communication, exploring dreams, and the art of relationship. We work individually and in partner exercises refining professional skills of tracking, both verbally and somatically. Relational skills include witnessing, somatic resonance and communication, which allow for deeper relating and communicating.
The training also includes the movement inquiry of Continuum, which opens a heartful, listening, responsive body. Biologically-based movement explorations facilitate a fluid articulation throughout the whole organism in a self-paced process that is pleasurable and empowering.

Fluid Anatomy: A Continuum Workshop
Robert Litman of The Breathable Body

Continuum Movement’s explorations invite us into an inquiry to differentiate and sense the many complex layers of our biology, this time focusing on the myriad fluid relationships inside the container of skin, muscles, bones, joints and breath. We seek to engage in a daily practice of pleasurable movement which we have found to raise our expression of health and vitality to a higher octave.

Moving into deep inner space we find the distinction between “outer” and “inner” blurred, which gives rise to a profound sense of expansiveness, belonging and connection. BREATH will guide the way, becoming a vehicle for deep exploration through all the layers of our tissue. As we become practiced at “riding” our breath in this way, whole worlds of presence and meaning open up to us.

SOUND stimulates vibration, creating space that allows breath and fluid to penetrate. Changing densities and inner rhythms adds to the many ways we can enjoy our bodily sensations, and thereby, our humanness.

OPEN ATTENTION gives us time to track these changes and follow the undulating movements that are already present, carrying intelligence and information throughout the entire body.

As our awareness merges with these newly revealed inner territories, structural and emotional limitations begin to drop away and enhanced well-being springs forth from this carefully tended ground.

“Please join me in playing in this field of being human. I look forward to teaching again in New York City and bringing the many new concepts that Emilie Conrad and I have been exploring. These new ideas have a huge impact on my movement, thinking, feeling and breathing in everyday activities as well as athletic performance. I continue to be amazed by the way Continuum and the fluid matrix offer limitless possibilities for exploring health, restoration and the dynamic complexity of our relationships with ourselves.” Robert Litman
