News from Mark, Matt, and Holly
-- from Matt, Holly & Mark, 1/1/2001 HI! Hope everybody had a Merry Christmas. I made my first visit outside of my home yesterday. I went to my grams and grandpa Duncan's house for Christmas dinner.(Well, I just got formula) My grandma and grandpa Leon were there too. I got lot's of great stuff! I am eating alot now! Today was my first day at home just with my Mom. My Dad went to work. We had a good time and took naps in the afternoon. Now if I could just get this night time thing down. I guess they want me to sleep as much as possible at night! But there is so much to do! Talk to y'all later! Mark -- from Mark, 12/26/2000 Hi everyone! I got to come home with my mom and dad this last Thursday! I have been keeping them busy with my feedings and diaper changing! I got to meet the dog Emma and the cat Chloe. Sometimes Emma barks when I cry because she does not understand what is going on. I also got to meet my Aunt Val. Soon I will also get to meet my Aunt Sarah and my Uncle Steven. Thanks for all your super messages. And special thanks to my 2nd cousin Jenn who made this website for me! Love, Mark -- from Mark, 12/23/2000 OKAY!!! We are pretty sure that Mark is going to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow!!! We are very excited! Matt is having another sleepover with Mark tonight. So hopefully our next message will be that Mark is at home! -- from Holly, 12/20/2000 They moved Mark out of intensive care today!! He has his very own room up on the cardiology floor. It has a fold out chair so that Matt and I can sleep over with him. In fact Matt and Mark are having a sleep over tonight. He is sleeping alot better now that he has his own room! Less noise! We did not have a chance to speak to the Drs today, but tomorrow we will ask them when he can come home. We are hoping in time for Christmas!! -- from Holly, 12/19/2000 As of Saturday, Mark has been feeding from a bottle. He is still being kind of cranky, we think because his throat is still irritated. We hope the doctors will move him out of intensive care either Monday or Tuesday. -- from Holly, 12/17/2000 Today they took the ventilator off of Mark. He is doing well. He is a bit cranky today,but that is probably because the ventilator irritates the throat and he is probably starving. They can not start feeding him until 24 hours after taking out the ventilator. He is getting nourishment from an iv but it is not quite the same.Everything is looking good! -- from Holly, 12/15/2000 Hi everybody. Just to let you know that Holly got to hold Mark today. The first time since his surgery on Monday. It was great! He is very much awake now. He is not enjoying the ventilator they have him on. He keeps trying to spit it out. Hopefully by Friday or Saturday they will be taking out that darn ventilator. Mark's doctors say he is doing just fine, we are hoping that he is moved out of the intensive care unit sometime next week. -- from Holly and Matt, 12/14/2000 Mark had the surgery today, he came out about 1:30pm and his folks were with him at 3:30pm. He'll be sedated for about a day to recover, then will be monitored as he wakes back up. -- from via Elsie (Grandma Leon), 12/11/2000 His name is Mark Duncan Leon. He is doing well. We should know in the next couple days if he will have a procedure to open up his heart valve. If not, he'll get to come home and have to be monitored weekly. Either way he is getting the best care at Children's Hospital. Holly is doing good. We'll keep you up to date. -- from Matt, 12/6/2000 |
