Directions
DIRECTIONS TO WEDDING:
Get to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE), which can be reached by the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, or Williamsburg Bridge (It’s unclear which of these will be open, because of the World Trade Center bombing. As of now, only the Williamsburg and Brooklyn are open).
[Update: as of Sept. 27, it looks like all three bridges are open. Get the latest info at metrocommute.com.]
Take BQE heading into Brooklyn/Staten Island. Stay on it until you reach the Prospect Expressway.
Take Prospect Expressway to Exit 5, the Fort Hamilton Expressway.
[UPDATE: this is a correction, previously this was wrongly listed as Exit 4.]
Stay on the street that the exit ramp links with for about 2 blocks, to Caton Avenue.
Turn left on Caton Avenue.
Drive about 4 blocks to Coney Island Avenue, turn left. Drive about 3 blocks, you’ll reach a traffic circle.
Drive one-third of the way through the traffic circle (i.e., 120 degrees of the circle), and you’ll see an entrance to Prospect Park that’s flanked by statues of horseback riders on 20-foot high bases, with the horses supported by absurd-looking posts connected to their bellies. That is the correct entry to get to the wedding site. Ushers will direct you from there. Walk through entrance. Bear right on main road. Walk until you see a Greek-temple-like structure, with lots of pillars, on the right. If it’s raining, the wedding will be there. If good weather, people will congregate there, then move to the nearby lake for the service.
[Update: You can check the weather at weather.com, zip code 11218. The current projection for Sunday, October 7th is: Mostly Sunny, High 57 °F, Low38 °F.]
AREA PARKING: On-street parking is decent, but probably will not be able to handle everyone. Local parking is available at the following locations: 220 East 7th Street, between Caton Avenue and Church Avenue. To get there, turn right off Caton Avenue as you're heading to the wedding site from the Prospect Expressway exit, and drive one-half block.
DIRECTIONS FROM WEDDING SITE TO RECEPTION:
Continue on the aforementioned traffic circle until two-thirds of the way through (i.e., 240 degrees), turn right, onto Prospect Park Southwest.
Stay on Prospect Park Southwest, which has some twists and turns, until you reach the other end of Prospect Park, where there’s another traffic circle, with a movie theater on the right.
Go halfway through the traffic circle (i.e., 180 degrees), and turn right, onto 15th Street. Go 2 blocks, then turn right, onto 7th Avenue.
Stay on 7th Avenue until you reach Flatbush Avenue—about 1 mile. Brownstone Billiards is around the corner on the right, at 308 Flatbush Avenue, downstairs.
AREA PARKING: On-street parking is decent, but probably will not be able to handle everyone. Local parking garages are available at the following locations: 626 Fulton St (940-8421), 197 Garfield Place (788-9851).
You may decide to leave your car near the wedding and get a cab to & from the reception. If so, here are local car service telephone numbers. Try to call in advance, as their reliability is uneven, particularly on Sunday mornings.
