Pictures of Barbara

Barbara's programs include: world folktales, childhood memories of the Greek-American experience and "overcoming/circumventing obstacles" stories, all collected over twenty years of working with linguistically diverse children and young adults, both deaf and hearing. Barbara can perform programs in Sign Language, depending upon the needs of the audience.

Presentations are a mix of careful planning and Barbara's spontaneous performance style, allowing her to tune into the audience and tailor each program on the spot! The stories she shares are thought-provoking and foster the values of honesty, friendship, courage, hope, and love for all living things.

Goals:To demonstrate the power of the spoken (or visual) word and the universal themes that unite all people; to connect the oral tradition to literacy; to celebrate diversity as a strength.

Tools:Stories, original paintings, authentic props, music, photographs, improvisation, and creative dramatics.
